OHSWEKEN (THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2021) — The Six Nations Cannabis Commission is moving forward with licensing cannabis producers and retailers on Six Nations Territory.

We posted public notices for 4 cannabis cultivation and manufacturing license applicants in June 2021. In November 2021, we posted public notices for 4 cannabis retail license applicants. We will post more public notices in the coming weeks as additional applicants enter the public notification period.

Public Notices are to provide information to the community on the production site/retail store location.

The information set out on the public notices contain: The name of the production facility/retail store, the application number, the address where the business will be located, the date when the community can start and stop sending feedback regarding the cannabis operation to the Six Nation Cannabis Commission via email.

All public notices are displayed at the location where the business will operate, and copies are posted to our website www.sncannabis.ca.

Currently, we are in the final stages of negotiating a supply of safe, secure cannabis to be sold on Six Nations. As we complete this agreement, retail stores will become licensed and open for business.

It is encouraging to see the interest and support we are getting from the business community, and from Six Nations members who have applied for licences. This is indicative of a desire at Six Nations within the business community to contribute back to the collective well-being of everyone and facilitate economic growth for future generations of the Six Nations of the Grand River community.

Together, our Commission and licensed operators are building a cannabis industry that prioritizes public health and safety.

As we transition into operating as a regulatory body, we will be providing monthly updates on our website, social media channels and through the local newspapers to ensure the community is informed on what is happening with the Six Nations Cannabis Commission.

ABOUT SNCC

Six Nations of the Grand River (SNGR) created the Six Nations Cannabis Commission (SNCC) to develop and implement a comprehensive cannabis regulatory regime that will ensure the health and safety of community members and that cannabis businesses operating on the Territory are contributing to the economic well-being of all Six Nations people.

The Six Nations Cannabis Control Law (SNCCL) came into effect on June 21, 2021.

Anyone who wishes to operate a cannabis business (production or retail sale) on Six Nations Territory must apply for and be issued a licence by SNCC, and comply with the ongoing licensing and health and safety requirements contained in the Six Nations Cannabis Control Law and Six Nations Cannabis Control Regulations which can be found online at www.sncannabis.ca.
